Car crash — Auto Injuries care in Weymouth, MA

Auto Injuries

Even a “minor” crash can result in serious injuries like ligament sprains. This can lead to chronic pain and disability if not treated properly. In fact, research shows that early treatment is the best way to prevent long-term symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments are effective because they help restore the healthy, normal function of your nervous system without the use of drugs or surgery.

What should someone do immediately after being involved in an auto accident, even if they don’t feel injured?

It’s essential to seek a medical evaluation after any auto accident, even if you feel fine initially. Injuries can sometimes manifest later. Visit a healthcare professional, such as a chiropractor, who can assess your condition and recommend appropriate treatment if needed.

Wrist pain at a laptop — Carpal Tunnel Syndrome care in Weymouth, MA

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

CTS is a problem of the median nerve which runs from the forearm into the hand. When there is excessive pressure in the wrist, it causes swelling of the median nerve. This small area called the carpal tunnel is a narrow tunnel at the wrist made up of bones, soft tissues, nerves, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. When the median nerve which runs through this tunnel gets compressed it causes pain, weakness, numbness or tingling in the hand and wrist which radiates into the forearm. The carpal tunnel is the most common area that gets compressed in both the hands and feet.

CTS should be diagnosed and treated early. During your consultation, you will receive a standard physical examination of the hands, arms, shoulders and neck to help determine if your symptoms are related to daily activities or to an underlying disorder. Our highly skilled chiropractor will also utilize other orthopedic tests to try to produce the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Laboratory tests and x-rays can reveal diabetes, arthritis, fractures, and other common causes of wrist and hand pain.

What are the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, and how can chiropractic care help?

Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include wrist pain, tingling, and numbness in the hand and fingers. Chiropractic care can help by addressing nerve impingements and musculoskeletal issues contributing to these symptoms through adjustments, exercises, and ergonomic advice.

Can chiropractic care be a non-surgical alternative for carpal tunnel syndrome treatment?

Yes, chiropractic care can offer a non-surgical alternative for carpal tunnel syndrome treatment. By addressing the underlying musculoskeletal issues and improving wrist joint mobility, chiropractors aim to alleviate symptoms and reduce the need for surgery.

Neck pain — Neck Pain care in Weymouth, MA

Neck Pain

The neck, also called the cervical spine, begins at the base of the skull and contains seven small vertebrae. The cervical spine supports the full weight of your head which is on average about 12 pounds. While the cervical spine can move your head in nearly every direction, this flexibility makes the neck very susceptible to pain and injury.

Is chiropractic care safe for treating neck pain, even in cases of severe pain or injuries?

Chiropractic care is generally safe and effective for treating neck pain, including cases of severe pain or injuries. However, we conduct a thorough evaluation to ensure the most appropriate and safe treatment plan for each patient’s unique condition.

Shockwave for Plantar Fasciitis

Shockwave Therapy

Having advised patients on treatments for plantar fasciitis and hearing their stories of limited success, I came across studies on a machine developed by an orthopedic surgeon in Switzerland. The machine was showing significant promise in treating heel pain. Excited by the positive results, our clinic acquired the machine and began administering treatment to some of our current patients. The outcomes surpassed any other treatments we had previously suggested, and the best part was the simplicity of the procedure.

If you’re seeking a solution to your chronic heel pain, we invite you to call our office for a consultation. We would be delighted to help you find relief and improve your quality of life.

What is Shockwave Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a painful condition characterized by inflammation of the fascia or band of tissue on the bottom of the foot. This tissue connects the heel bone to the toes and is often damaged due to overstretching or overuse, resulting in inflammation. The condition causes severe heel or foot pain, typically worse in the morning. Traditional treatments for plantar fasciitis have included rest, anti-inflammatory medication, stretching, bracing, and, in some cases, surgery. However, these treatments often yield less-than-desirable results. In recent years, shockwave or pressurewave therapy has emerged as a non-invasive and often successful method of treatment for plantar fasciitis and other soft tissue injuries, significantly reducing pain. Shockwave or pressurewave treatment involves the application of energy waves directly to the heel of the foot. These acoustic waves pass through the tissue, stimulating blood flow and promoting healing in the inflamed area.

The Procedure For Shockwave Or Pressurewave Treatment Of Plantar Fasciitis

Shockwave therapy is performed on an outpatient basis and is non-invasive, meaning there are no injections, medications, or incisions involved. During the procedure, your medical history will be reviewed to ensure the suitability of this treatment for you. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and sit or lie down with your foot supported by a pillow. Ultrasound gel will be applied to the area, and a handheld probe will deliver compressed air pulses to the heel, stimulating healing. The procedure typically takes around 10 minutes per foot. While you may experience some discomfort as the pulse waves penetrate the tissue around your heel, many individuals report relief even after just one session. However, it may take several weeks or months to experience the full benefits. Depending on the severity of the plantar fasciitis, you may need to return for two to five additional sessions, typically spaced one week apart. Following the treatment, you can resume walking and normal activities immediately. You will be provided with simple post-treatment care instructions to prevent further complications.

Is Shockwave Or Pressurewave Treatment Effective?

Shockwave treatment is considered safe, can help people with plantar fasciitis avoid surgery, and is FDA approved. A meta-analysis of multiple studies in 2020 suggests that shockwave therapy (or Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy – ESWT) is most effective at reducing symptoms, according to a 2017 research study. In general, shockwave therapy is believed to provide symptom relief in 44% to 80% of individuals who receive the treatment. Many people who have undergone treatment report a dramatic decrease in symptoms, which is further supported by various case studies. Don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment for a consultation today. We look forward to assisting you on your journey towards finding lasting relief from chronic heel pain.

Q&A About Shockwave Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis

What is Plantar Fasciitis, and how does it affect daily life?

Plantar Fasciitis is a common foot condition characterized by inflammation of the thick band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that runs across the bottom of your foot, connecting your heel bone to your toes. This condition causes intense heel pain and can make it difficult to walk or stand for extended periods.

How does Shockwave Therapy work for Plantar Fasciitis?

Shockwave Therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive treatment that delivers high-energy shockwaves to the affected area. These shockwaves stimulate the body’s natural healing response, increase blood flow, and promote tissue regeneration. For Plantar Fasciitis, Shockwave Therapy helps reduce pain and inflammation while promoting the healing of damaged tissue.

What can I expect during a Shockwave Therapy session at Bay State Chiropractic?

Your session will begin with a thorough evaluation of your condition. Dr. Diener will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. If Shockwave Therapy is deemed appropriate for your case, the treatment will begin. During the session, you may experience mild discomfort as the shockwaves are applied, but this discomfort is typically brief and well-tolerated.

How many sessions are typically required to see results?

The number of sessions needed can vary depending on the severity of your Plantar Fasciitis. Many patients experience significant relief after just a few sessions. Dr. Diener will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Is Shockwave Therapy safe for Plantar Fasciitis?

Yes, Shockwave Therapy is considered a safe and effective treatment for Plantar Fasciitis when administered by a trained healthcare professional like Dr. Diener. It is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure with minimal side effects.

Are there any key benefits of Shockwave Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis?

Absolutely! Some key benefits of Shockwave Therapy include:

  • Pain Reduction: Shockwaves target the source of pain, providing rapid relief.
  • Non-Invasive: Unlike surgery, Shockwave Therapy requires no incisions, resulting in minimal downtime.
  • Improved Mobility: Many patients experience increased mobility and the ability to resume normal activities.

Your First Visit

Here at Bay State Chiropractic, we want to make sure that your first visit is as relaxing and informative as possible. We want to ensure that when you leave, you do not have any questions. It is our goal to get you to feel excited about the progress that you have already made.

Many people visit the chiropractor for the first time because they are experiencing pain in different areas of their body. Some people also visit us because they want to begin a preventive treatment plan to ensure that they stay healthy.

We understand the body and how it works. During your first visit, we will spend some time talking so that you can explain any pain that you have. We may feel around the painful areas to get a better sense of what is going on. We will probably take X-rays to get a good look at your alignment, though they are not always needed.

We truly believe that pain is often the result of something in our body being out of alignment. We will work hard to ensure that your body gets back into alignment so that you are pain free again! Our goal is to help you to feel better (and stay that way) as quickly as possible. It is possible to live a life without pain.

What To Expect

Here at Bay State Chiropractic, we want to ensure that when you enter our doors you know exactly what to expect. Once you have an appointment booked, you will be greeted by our friendly receptionist who will be awaiting your arrival. We want to ensure that we understand you, your pain, and your history completely so you will be expected to fill out paperwork when you arrive.

This paperwork will ask for your family history because some issues in your body can be hereditary (but that does not mean that we cannot fix them). It will also ask you questions about your health habits and your medical history. We want to cover all bases so that we are able to help you as much as possible.

Depending on your injury, we may or may not require X-rays. Most of the time, we perform X-rays to get a good look at your spine. This should need to be done only if you are a new patient or there is a change in your condition.

After your examination, which will require you to move around and possibly even lay down so that we can get a better feel for what is going on, you will be able to talk to our compassionate and knowledgeable chiropractor. Be sure to tell Bay State Chiropractic all about the pain you are experiencing and any other symptoms you may be having. At that point, the chiropractor will discuss your condition and your options. Together, you can decide what you feel comfortable doing and come up with a game plan to help you.

Payment Options

Although payment is expected at the time of service, here at Bay State Chiropractic, we are proud to take many different payment methods. In order to ensure that you receive the best care available, we want to make it as easy as possible for you. We accept cash, checks, and debit cards. We also accept most major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, Discover card, and American Express.

We also welcome your insurance and will do everything that we can to help you receive as many benefits from it as possible. One of the questions we are asked a lot is will my insurance cover this? Since there are so many different plans and coverage options available, we are not able to give you a definite answer. When you arrive at your appointment, we will make a copy of your insurance card so that we should be able to estimate what your insurance will cover.

If you have any questions about your insurance, what it covers, or different payment methods, contact us today at (781) 337-7777.

A grateful patient
“Twenty years ago I was in a minor car accident which left me with chronic pain. It was very painful for me to walk, stand or sit down. The only position I felt comfortable in was lying down. For a year I had been seeing a neurosurgeon who had been treating me to no avail. After that year the neurosurgeon told me there was nothing more he could do, I would just have to live with the pain. I said, “how can someone live with lying down all your life?” He said, “I can’t help you anymore”. When I left his office I felt deserted and depressed. I was reading the newspaper one day and saw an ad asking, “if you had pain, or neck and back problems and couldn’t get relief, maybe you should try chiropractic”. I thought, “if my neurologist couldn’t help me, then maybe a chiropractor knew something that would help”. I’m sure it couldn’t be any worse than what the neurologist put me through for one year. So that’s how I went to Bay State Chiropractic and after three months of treatment with my chiropractor I could walk, stand and sit without pain. Thank God I went to Bay State Chiropractic years ago and met my chiropractor. My neurosurgeon was wrong about my pain! I did NOT have to live with it!”
Mary AchornWeymouth, MA

Today, being pain free and being able to walk well is strictly due to Dr. Diener’s high expertise and care. He has made quite a difference. I heartily recommend him to everyone and I thank my lucky stars to have been his patient!”
